This season the RFU have introduced a new player pathway for the Girls programme and created nine PDG Centres across the country. Each PDG group has around 30 to 35 players and they train regularly on a Saturday. This places the girls in the top 300 players in their age group in the country.
On Sunday 24th November, Fullerians U18s Girls player Georgie Christophorou was selected to play in the South East PDG that has players from Hertfordshire, Essex, Eastern Counties and Middlesex.
Georgie played in both games that were played against the Midlands & the Central & Eastern PDG centres. The South East PDG came out as winners in both their games.
It was a great opportunity for Georgie and a demonstration of her hard work. The Fullerians U18s Girls Head Coach, Alban Barnes said “Georgie has been working hard for a number of seasons and in her first year of U18s, it is an amazing opportunity for her to play". Alban added “We are fortunate at Fullerians to also have Abi Edwards and Amelia Fox in the PDG squad. Sadly, they were not involved on this occasion due to availability for Abi and injury for Amelia. However, it shows the development of rugby at Fullerians RFC and hopefully this will lead to future international honours”.
